Financial Tools

Med-Pay has always said that we’re here for you and we strive to live up to that promise.

in conjunction with the Personalized Tools, Med-Pay offers full-flex cafeteria plan services, Health Reimbursement Accounts and Health Savings Accounts.

Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs) must be set up only with employer funds. To accommodate employee as well as employer accounts, HRAs can be offered in tandem with a  cafeteria plan.  In fact, FSAs and HRAs can co-exist rather nicely. The arrangement can be structured in such a way that the HRA is used first, preserving FSA dollars for non-covered services such as orthodontia or Lasik surgery.   Alternatively, the plan can provide that the FSA pays first, which would preserve unused HRA funds for future medical expenses.

Moreover, favorable tax treatment is extended to HRAs that pay employees' routine medical expenses from employer-financed accounts, and allow any unused balances in those accounts to be rolled over from one year to the next.

Meanwhile, the new kid on the block, Health Savings Accounts (HSAs),  are proving to be very interesting and something that may be of interest to you. ). Under the law, relatively inexpensive health insurance policies withhigh deductibles are teamed up with savings accounts, called HSAs.  Some features of HSAs include: contributions are tax deductible,  the funds can be carried over to the next year tax-free, and moneycan be withdrawn to pay for unreimbursed medical expenses.  Employers may offer HSAs as part of a Section 125(d) cafeteria plan.

Voluntary Benefits Plans can be just what you or your employees need to complement current insurance coverage.  The site has information on numerous and diverse products with tools that will help you in making an assessment and utlimate decision.

Call Med-Pay for more information.  We’ll be glad to assist you and answer any questions you may have about any of these products.
